La scheda seriale PCI Express PEX1S553LP trasforma uno slot PCI Express in una connessione seriale RS-232 (DB9). La scheda è realizzata con un design a chip singolo nativo che consente di sfruttare tutte le funzionalità offerte da PCI Express (PCIe) riducendo al contempo il carico della CPU fino al 48% rispetto alle schede seriali a chip ponte convenzionali.
La scheda adattatore seriale PCI Express RS232 è compatibile con un'ampia gamma di sistemi operativi, tra cui Windows®, Linux Kernel da 2.6.11 a 4.11x, e viene fornita con una staffa a basso profilo/mezza altezza installata, ma include anche una staffa a profilo completo che consente di aggiungere una porta seriale a qualsiasi computer (indipendentemente dal fattore di forma del case).
